Sunday Snap & A Happy Birthday Wish!

Hallo little bloggy friends.  Here we are at another weekend, and this week has been pretty uneventful for me really.  I am getting used to my new eating regime and I do believe that I am starting to feel better for it, so that's all good news.

I have even started going on my exercise bike and step machine this week, along with lifting some weights.  I haven't felt like doing this for a very long time, so perhaps this is a good sign also.  To be honest, I'm thinking of the holiday that my granddaughter and I are going on to Rhodes next year, and the fact that I shall be spending a lot of time in a swimming costume by the pool.  Eeek!

I only have one Sunday Snap for you this week.  I was turning out some drawers in one of the upstairs bedrooms, desperately trying to create some more space (anyone else know that feeling?!) when I found quite a few photos of me as a child.  I really like the one I have chosen - it is of my dad and I at the beach, and it really reminded me of all the love I was surrounded with whilst I was growing up.  I consider myself very lucky in that respect, and I have tried to pass that love on to my own two daughters, and now to my three grandchildren.

This was probably taken in about 1955 - a lifetime ago!

We now come on to the birthday wishes.  Today is my awesome friend's birthday.  She is known to many of you as Bouncin'Barb and is a great support to oodles of people out there in bloggyland.  Barb has been through a very tough couple of years, but, suddenly, life is looking up and I for one just couldn't be happier for her.  She has just been to visit her family, including her mum, her son and her two gorgeous granddaughters, along with her other grandchildren.  AND, she's looking better than ever.  Just check this out for yourself!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOUNCIN'BARB,  AND I HOPE THAT THIS COMING YEAR WILL BE FILLED WITH LOTS OF BLESSINGS AND LOVELY THINGS FOR YOU!

I'm happy to hear that you're starting to feel better, after the new diet. And to exercise is always good :)
Today is Father's Day in Sweden, so I am celebrating the remembrance of my Dad today.

That is such a sweet picture of your Dad and you. I know it brought back wonderful memories. I've been looking at old pictures this week, traveling down memory lane, too.
Happy birthday to your friend!

The photo of you and your dad is just precious! I'm so glad you had a happy childhood. And Happy Birthday to your friend, Bouncin' Barb!

My heart melted at the precious picture of you and your dad. What a legacy to pass on, too.

Good for you for getting into exercise again, particularly the weights. Too many women don't like weights, but when paired with cardio, will help to build lean muscle.

Happy Birthday, Bouncin' Barb! 51 is a great age to be. You're just getting started. I wish you much happiness in the year ahead!

Thisisme, I'm so glad you found more early pics of yourself to post. You were a beautiful child and looked a lot like Shirley Temple in this shot. I can see your father's love in the photo. I wish there were many more families that passed love down the line rather than abuse and neglect. Thank you for brightening my day and have a wonderful Sunday, dear friend!

My Dear Awesome Friend...

How can I thank you enough for such a sweet post. I'm so gifted to have the circle of friends I have even though we are worlds apart. You've been with me since the early blogging days and you've supported me more than most of my "real" friends and family. How thoughtful of you.

The picture of you is wonderful. It makes me think of my Dad and me because I was Daddy's girl and the only one after 4 boys. So there's a great connection for little girls and their daddy's. So sweet.

Thank you again and everyone who has commented here. I am so very lucky.

Desiree - Glad you liked the photo of my dad and I today. Always good to see you over here. Yes, I was up all night making that cake for BB, I will have you know, AND I had the two little grandchildren sleeping. I shall just go and collapse in a corner very soon!! Talking about party hats, it's about time we had another party here in Bloggyland. I hope that that Carol is planning something for us at Christmas, unless she's got ideas above her station, now that she's a famous author of course!! Hee Hee!! (By the way, I DID notice that Mrs Grundy had suddenly appeared from nowhere again!).

Sush - hi my friend. I know that mum and dad loved me very much. They waited a very long time before I came along, so they were older parents. I'm sure we all wish BB well as she starts out on her new life.

Claudia - thank you so much! Like all dads, he was loved very much by me.

Dizzy - Hi there Carol. Yes, happy memories indeed. It's frightening to think that I'm almost the age that my dad was when he passed away.

Orchid - Hi Miyako my little friend from the East. Hope you are keeping well and still doing your stretches! I really must keep my little exercise regime going, as I think you do feel better when you are able to exercise, and I won't be doing quite so much walking, now that the winter is setting in. Warmest wishes to you.

faith, hope, love - Hallo Soraya. What a beautiful name. Lovely to see you here today and thank you for popping over to leave a comment.

Eva - thank you for your very kind comments my friend, as always. I know how much you miss your own father, and it's nice that you are especially remembering him on Swedish Fathers' Day today. Hugs.

Grammy Goodwill - funny that you should be travelling down memory lane as well this week! I was lucky in that I had a childhood filled with lots of love.

Becky - hallo there. It's always lovely to see you over here, and I do appreciate you coming over to leave a comment.

Shelly - I'm glad that you enjoyed the photo of my dad and I. It's just such a relaxed shot I think and you can see how much we love each other. I'm going to make sure that I keep going with my little exercise regime. I'm quite happy using the weights for my arms, especially if it will give me lean muscle! Hee Hee!!

Denise - I'm so glad you popped by today to look at my Sunday Snap. Hope all is well with you over there.

Knitty - hallo! I'm getting lots of nice visitors today, that perhaps haven't been over for a while. That's always lovely.

Shady - hallo Tom dear friend. I was beginning to wonder where you were!! LOL! Yes, Barb is just a mere youngster yet, isn't she. It does sound as if things are looking up for her, and I really am so glad. Shirley Temple, eh?! Must be the curly hair, and I always seemed to have a big bow of ribbon in it! I hope you're having a relaxing weekend my friend.

Gawgus things - I'm glad you liked the photo today. I found some quite nice ones tucked away!

Bouncin'Barb - I was only too pleased to give you a birthday mention dear awesome friend. As you say, we've been together almost from the very beginning, and you're always such a good support to everyone else, even when things weren't going too well in your own life. As you can see, we all wish you well for the year ahead. Hugs. Yes, you're right, I think there is a special bond between dads and their daughters. Certainly, I was very lucky with mine.

I am so happy that you are feeling better and encouraged to do more healthy things for your body. I need to be a lot more like you and will try. That picture surely showed me a very proud father sitting beside that "gorgeous" little girl. You are still looking great girl.
Barb is a good friend to a lot of us and I echo your comments and wish her a joyous birthday as she certainly deserves all the happiness she can stand.
Have a wonderful rest of this Sunday and a great week ahead.
Hugs,
Odie

Odie - Hallo my friend. Hope your weekend is going well, and that you're going to enjoy all that food that you cooked yesterday! My dad does look proud, doesn't he?! I keep having these little exercise spurts, and then it does tend to fizzle out, but I really am going to try to keep this going! I agree with you that Barb certainly does deserve some happiness in her life :)

That is the most lovely picture of you and your Dad. The smiles are so wonderful. You have done a grand job of continuing the love that your parents gave you to your children and grand children. You are the most special of daughters, Mother, Grandma and friend.

We are all so very lucky to have a true friend in you. Hugs and love sweetheart.
