Not Wordless Wednesday after all!

I was going to make this a Wordless Wednesday post, then realized that by putting a caption on the photo, it wasn't Wordless Wednesday after all!

So now I'm stuck, because I haven't really got anything else to say on this wet, dreary day.  I suppose I could talk about the famine in the African countries, or the horrendous state of the money markets all round the world, but my blog isn't about that.  From my little corner of the world I try to spread some happiness to you all.

One little story that might make you smile happened to me on Sunday, whilst hubby and I were out for our walk.  I should start off by saying that my number one daughter had a special birthday this year, and her husband bought her a very lovely, very expensive watch, which she had always wanted.  I admired it and when I was visiting Paris in August, I also bought one.  BUT, as I am the poor relation here (hee hee!!) I bought one from a stall outside the very famous department store, Galeries Lafayette, which cost me the princely sum of ten Euros!! But it did look good.

Anyway, whilst hubby and I were walking along, I looked to see what the time was, and suddenly thought, "oh, I didn't realize that this watch had a date on it as well."  Then I looked again, and realized that I was actually wearing my daughter's very expensive watch.   Eeeek!! She had forgotten to tell me that she had left it behind, and as it was in the lounge, I just picked it up thinking that it was mine.  Needless to say, it has now been wrapped up and put in a safe place until she returns in December!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

This made for a lovely story, Diane. I'm so glad you opted for a wordy Wednesday. Ruby is adorable...just look at the size of that laugh! What a happy, animated little face.

OMG! When Gawgus got home to Paris she surely must have panicked thinking she lost her expensive birthday gift! That's a funny tale, Thisisme. You do spread joy with your blog. I was reminded last night by a late comment that I received on my blog that I have gained some wonderful new friends because of my association with you. Thank you! The sheer delight written on Ruby Violet's face speaks volumes and would have been quite sufficient for a Wordless Wednesday post, but I always appreciate your writing as well. I hope the sun will soon be shining in your part of the world, dear friend. Have a wonderful day!

Ruby Violet is a cutie. I too bought a new cheapie watch this week, even though hubby inisted I buy a good watch. I prefer my costume jewelry because I don't have to worry about marring it. Horrors to discover yourself wearing the real deal.

Dizzy - Hi Carol. It was quite a funny story. I just couldn't believe it when I realized! Glad you at least have sunshine in your part of England!

Desiree - thank you! It's so hard to catch a photo of Ruby laughing, because she usually moves around too much, but I couldn't resist taking this one whilst she was still. Not brilliant picture quality, because I took it with my mobile phone.

Shady - Hi dear Tom. Yes, I couldn't believe that Gawgus hadn't phoned me immediately when she realized the watch was missing! I'm glad you have made some new friends, and I know that if they have come from my Blog, they will be very special people!! Hugs to you.

Linda - yes, it was horrors! I'm like you now. I really enjoy costume jewellery, because you can get some lovely pieces now, and the watch that I bought for 10 Euros really did look very effective!

Now that was a wonderful switcheroo- even if only for a bit. Ruby is beautiful- such a joy to see happy children!

Southhamsdarling said...

Shelly - yes, it was a good switch for a moment, but I wouldn't have felt happy wearing such an expensive watch. I would be bound to scratch it, or something bad!! :)

Hmmm, but is it really wrapped up nice and safe in that box...???!

Gawgus things - it most definitely IS! I certainly wouldn't dare wear it again!

My hubby got so excited when he received a "rolex" watch from his parents at Christmas. When he opened the second and the third one, he figured it out. The sun and balmy weather we are being blessed with right now is unheard of for the time of year. 36 years ago yesterday, on my wedding day, it was like this. Two weeks later we had the hugest snow storm!

Steadfast Ahoy - Hi Rosemary. Nice to see you over here today! That was funny about your husband and his Rolex presents!! Hee Hee!! How wonderful for you to be having such lovely weather at the moment. Let's hope that the storm doesn't arrive.

Yes it is now my children who are sporting the big ticket items. I'm a lot more comfortable wearing the costume jewelry and not worrying about what might happen...

Happy Wednesday or what it's called around here...Happy Hump Day...weeks almost over!

Sush - hi my friend. It's funny how our children are now wearing those more expensive items, isn't it?! Yes, I adore little Ruby of course! I always wondered what Happy Hump Day meant on my American friends' blogs, and now I know! Middle of the week, so getting over the hump of the week. Brilliant!!

Katherine - thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed the little story today my friend.

I remember going to the theater to see Bambi. I loved it. Little Ruby is certainly enjoying it too! That is so funny about the watch. :) I am buying the same two watches from Avon, one for my mom for Xmas and one for me. I hope we don't mix them up although they are the same price.

Dear Diane,

What a story, like it! I am a little watch freak myself, just love them. It's very dark now isn't it. It's dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home. Boring weather over here also :( Have a lovely evening my friend! Tomorrow is another day ;)

Hugs x

Belle - Yes, little Ruby was really chuckling away watching Bambi. It was the bit when Thumper was with Bambi!! Well, at least it won't matter quite so much if you mix your watch up with your mum's! I quickly put it back in the box when I got home, I can tell you!

Raindrops and Daisies - glad the little story about the watch made you smile today!

Eva - Hi dear friend. Oh, isn't that just awful when you leave in the dark in the mornings, and it's still dark when you get home in the evenings. I don't envy you, I must admit! Hugs.

I love that happy face that Ruby has! She is simply precious!

Vintch - so good to see you here today dear friend. Well, at 10 Euros - I wouldn't have minded if my watch only lasted a year! Hope you , Robert and the little doggie are all well.

Retired English Teacher - hallo! I've missed you. I liked your comment about it being my story !! Hee Hee. Hope you are well.

Empty Nester - Pam, you are naughty! Actually, hubby suggested that I play a similar trick on dear daughter, but I just couldn't do that to her!!!

Hi dear friend Orchid. Yes, that was a good saying from our friend Desiree, wasn't it?! "animated face" - love it! I'm glad you liked the little story about the watch, and I'm sorry that you seem to be having dreary weather over there as well :( Take care. Sending you hugs, from Diane.

Chatty - you're right. I couldn't be wordless about little Ruby, could it?! Yes, believe it or not, the wearing of the watch was a complete accident. Hee Hee!!

Grammy - thank you for your kind comments as always. Good to see you here, as usual.

Duncan - Hi there. Yes, it was quite funny really. For a moment, as my daughter hadn't said anything, I thought that she hadn't even missed it! I was quite glad to put it safely back in its box though.

Susan - thank you for your sweet comments. I really do appreciate them. I do try to be upbeat on my blog. There's enough bad things going on out there in the word, isn't there? Ruby is a little treasure, isn't she. Take care.
